Update on the GSE UK Virtual Conference 2020

At the end of March, the GSE UK Board made the difficult decision to postpone the GSE 2020 Conference at Celtic Manor to November 2021, due to the fact that many delegates, speakers and vendors could still be facing travel restrictions at that time.

However, there will still be a GSE UK Conference this year – a virtual conference to be held between 2nd and 12th November – which will be FREE for all attendees.

We are still in the early planning stages, but aim to deliver approximately 120 sessions over the two-week period.

We will host a Keynote each Monday, plus 20 sessions a day across 5 streams on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday both weeks. Conference streams will include Large Systems, Enterprise Security, CICS, Db2, Network Management and Storage Management.  All sessions will be recorded and available for playback from the GSE Conference website.

We’re delighted to announce that IBM’s Mark Anzani will deliver our opening Keynote on Monday 2nd November on the subject of the history of IBM mainframes during his 38 year career.

The conference website is in the process of being updated and a draft agenda will be available by the end of July. Registration will open in late September, early October.

GSE Charity Donations

Last year’s donations allowed us to give £2361 to Barnardo’s and £2361 to Mencap.  This year we want to continue raising money for worthy causes and have chosen NHS Charities Together as this year’s charity.  We have set up a donation page on Virgin Money Giving and will be asking delegates to donate a small sum in appreciation for the free training and the work done by GSE volunteers to put on the virtual conference.

Sponsorship

We are also looking for vendor sponsorship for the virtual sessions. This is a great opportunity to get in front of hundreds of mainframe industry personnel, so please contact Mark Wilson at mark.wilson@gse.org.uk for full details and sponsorship openings.

We will continue to post updates on our conference web site here
